1. Introduction and Scope
RentMate provides a platform that connects Item Owners with Renters using an intelligent geospatial search algorithm. RentMate acts solely as a facilitator and is not a party to any rental agreement between users. By using the app, you agree to these terms.
2. User Accounts and Eligibility
- Registration: All users must provide accurate, current, and complete information.
- Verification: We may use third-party services to verify identity or location data.
- Responsibility: You are responsible for all activity occurring under your account.
3. Terms for Renters (Users)
- Proper Use: You will use the item only for its intended purpose and in a lawful manner.
- Care of Items: You are responsible for returning the item in the same condition it was received, barring "normal wear and tear."
- Timely Return: Late returns may result in additional fees as calculated by the platform.
- Geospatial Data: You consent to the use of your location data to facilitate pickups and drop-offs.
4. Payments, Fees, and Cancellations
- Owner Commission: RentMate charges a flexible percentage (%) fee on the Owner side for every item rented out. This percentage may vary based on item category, rental duration, or promotional periods. The specific fee will be displayed to the Owner before confirming a booking.
- Renter Service Fees: Renters may be charged a separate service fee for platform usage, which is non-refundable.
- Payment Processing: All payments are handled by a third-party secure processor (e.g., Stripe).
- Cancellations: Specific refund windows apply (e.g., 100% refund if cancelled 24 hours before the rental start).
- Early Returns: Items returned before the scheduled end date are non-refundable.
5. Liability and Insurance
- Assumption of Risk: Users acknowledge that renting items carries inherent risks.
- Limited Liability: RentMate is not liable for personal injury, property damage, or theft resulting from the rental.
- Disputes: RentMate may offer a dispute resolution service, but final liability rests between the Owner and Renter.
6. Prohibited Items
The following may not be listed or rented:
- Firearms, weapons, or illegal substances.
- Hazardous materials or chemicals.
- Items that infringe on intellectual property.
7. The RentMate Algorithm and Data
- Geospatial Accuracy: While our algorithm optimizes for proximity, we do not guarantee exact GPS precision due to hardware variations.
- Data Privacy: Your location data is used solely to connect you with local users and is governed by our Privacy Policy.
8. Termination of Service
RentMate may suspend or terminate accounts for low ratings, failure to return items, or engaging in off-platform payments to avoid fees ("Circumvention").

- Right to Rent: You confirm you have the legal right to rent out the item.
- Pricing & Deposits: You are responsible for setting the base rental price and any required security deposits.
